Collective Liberation
“You never completely have your rights, one person, until you all have your rights.”-Marsha P. Johnson
We join together in community to move towards collective liberation. We acknowledge the intersectional natures of oppression and privilege and their impact on our lived experiences. We are proud to collectively uplift each other in community relationship, physical movement and mindful presence.
Inclusivity
“We should indeed keep calm in the face of difference, and live our lives in a state of inclusion and wonder at the diversity of humanity.” -George Takei
Y’all means all. We include folks of all backgrounds and lived experiences in our community practice. We are mindful of the dialectic of holding both our similarities and our differences to practice true radical inclusion. Shared practices are offered through a trauma-informed lens. In short, this means teachers and community members work to understand the impacts of trauma (and connection!) in each of our lives. All practices offered are optional and we work diligently to make shared practices as accessible as possible. We are proud to discover what actions are necessary to adapt to the needs of our diverse family as we grow.
Embodyment
“I’m not missing a moment of this — it’s the revolution!” -Sylvia Rivera
Our shared practice provides us means to be in our bodies in an affirming environment. We acknowledge the many challenges that present themselves to us (racism, colorism, cis heteronormativity, fatphobia, ageism, misogyny, dysphoria, body dysphoria, dissociation, the list does not end) which have harmed our relationship with our physical form. We are proud to move together toward the right relationship with our bodies through the practice of just showing up.
Peace
“We deserve to experience love fully, equally, without shame and without compromise.” -Elliot Page
We gather together to seek peace. Unsurprisingly we receive many social messages that marginalized folks are undeserving of rest and relaxation. Many of us struggle in our search for peace through experiences of loneliness, confusion, and emotional dysregulation which weigh on our motivation. our shared practice provides us space to learn and practice the actions of peacefulness. Together we overcome challenges like social anxiety and self-judgement. We will take it breath by breath.
